ARTIST NOTES: It’s that feeling you get as a surfer when you finally approach the beach and hold your breath in anticipation of what the waves will be like. You are desperate for clean, long lines of waves and instead they are wild and well beyond your skills and strength. You go out anyway and pray that you’ll surface in one piece!

ARTIST BIO

The world is a beautiful, spectacular and sometimes overwhelming place. Painting gives me the tools I need to take it all in, wrap my head around it and then release it. Painting helps me to remember and appreciate special places, people and experiences in my life that might often be forgotten in the busyness.

I am a self-tought artist who is influenced by Australian artists such as Brett Whiteley, John Olsen, Fred Williams, John Olson, Charles Blackman and Joy Hester.  I have been creating and selling paintings privately to friends and family for the previous 20 years. This is a new season for me to publicly share my work, with the hopes of bringing a little joy and colour into your home.

I don’t think of myself as a particular type of artist, but rather paint in a style that suits the subject matter and the way I’m feeling when I paint it. Some subject matter deserve intricate details, whereas others are better expressed through abstract. My paintings are mostly inspired by the Australian and American landscape, the ocean and surfing, nostalgia, vintage fashion and decor, my mum's garden, the Yarra Valley and experiences from my travels.

I have been fortunate to be able to share my love of art with the younger generation in my role as a primary Art teacher. I am also a qualified social worker and hope to one day specialise in Art Therapy.

I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I've enjoyed creating them.
